I have a confession to make. I’ve been keeping a little secret from you all…I’m going to Barcelona tomorrow! Woohoo!

You might be wondering why I’ve been keeping it a secret and there’s a pretty good reason for that, I promise. I’m taking my boyfriend as a surprise for his birthday and I didn’t want him to find out by reading it on my blog! But it’s his birthday today (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) so the surprise has been revealed and we’re both super excited.

I’m actually pretty surprised I managed to keep it a secret for as long as I did. I’m the type of person who gets too excited when organising fun things and then I just can’t keep my mouth shut about them so I’m giving myself a pat on the back and packing my little carry-on suitcase for the trip.

I decided to take him to Barcelona instead of buying a bunch of expensive gifts that he probably doesn’t even need after coming to the realisation that I’m happier spending money on travel and memories rather than on materialistic stuff. Spending time with loved ones, travelling, having new experiences and making memories will always be more important to me than having the latest bag/shoes/car/dress/etc.

Anyway, we’re leaving tomorrow morning (Tuesday) on a nice early flight so we can make the most of the day in hopefully sunny Barcelona. We fly home late on Friday night so we’ve got a good amount of time to explore the city.

I’ve been to Barcelona numerous times but it’s a city I never tire of visiting. I love that there’s the option to chill out at the beach and do very little or you can spend your days strolling around the city admiring the architecture and visiting all the sights.

My boyfriend hasn’t been to Barcelona before though so I’m hoping to show him all the best parts of the city. What would you recommend I show him in the few days we have in the city?

I’m a massive fan of FC Barcelona and although I’ve been to the stadium three times before I’m definitely planning to visit again and I know my boyfriend is desperate to go!

We’re going to be staying in what looks like a fabulous GowithOh apartment in the LEixample Esquerra neighborhood. It’s got a MASSIVE private roof terrace with killer views of the city and I can’t wait to sit there with a bottle glass of vino and relax.
