Last weekend I enjoyed another trip back to the gorgeous seaside city of St Andrews, on the east coast of Scotland. It’s less than two hours drive from home, so it’s the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway, whilst also feeling a million miles from home.
I travelled with my brother Iain, his girlfriend Michelle and my parents. My boyfriend Thomas was supposed to be there too, but unfortunately he’s away working in South Africa at the moment. Boo!
St Andrews just happens to be one of my absolute favourite spots in Scotland and I’m sure these pictures will help you to see exactly why…
We had an absolutely delicious dinner at a restaurant called The Vine Leaf. I had eaten here before on a previous visit to St Andrews so I was pretty delighted we managed to get a reservation when we visited. This bad boy was my trio of creme brûlées that I enjoyed for dessert…
We stayed at the absolutely lovely Old Course Hotel – the most well-known hotel in St Andrews. It sits prominently looking over the Old Course, the oldest golf course in the world and credited as being where the game of golf was first invented. It’s a gorgeous hotel with a great pool and thermal suite area. Definitely don’t forget your swimming gear if you’re staying here!
As you can see from the copious amounts of blue sky in the pictures, the weather was perfection. Walking around it was hard to believe it was the end of October and felt more like an early September day.
The only giveaway that it was actually the end of October was the red, orange and yellow hues on the trees and the leaves falling from them.
All in all, it was a pretty perfect weekend filled with drinks, lovely food, laughter, a trip to the spa, sunshine, good company and more. What better way to spend a weekend?!
