As this post goes live I’ll likely be throwing the last few things into my suitcase before heading to the airport. I’m off to the south of France for five glorious days!

Thomas and I were originally supposed to be travelling together with his parents. His mum just celebrated a big birthday (I won’t say which!) and this was our gift to her. We wanted to take her to see an area that we both love and knew she would too.

Unfortunately, Thomas’ dad has been advised not to fly as he’s awaiting an operation so now it will just be Thomas and I travelling. What a shame! It gives us an excuse to take them back to the south of France once he’s had his operation and recovered though.

I’ve written before about my love for the south of France, so I’m delighted to be going back. Watching Riviera, with all the sweeping views out to sea and gorgeous houses has made me even more excited.

We’ve decided to base ourselves in Juan les Pins for the duration of our trip. I’ve been lucky enough to have travelled to the south of France more than 10 times, but haven’t actually been to Juan les Pins before. It comes highly recommended by my parents who’ve been there many times, so I’m trusting their judgement on this one.

We don’t have any firm plans for our time there and plan to just see what takes our fancy. I know I definitely want to go to the ancient hilltop village of Eze and my favourite little town, Villefranche sur Mer.

We’ll probably also visit Antibes, Monaco, Nice and possibly Cannes. We plan to fit a lot into our 5 days! If you have any recommendations of places to go, things to see or where to eat or drink I’d love to hear them.

We’ll get around mostly using the incredibly cheap and efficient train service. It makes exploring different towns, villages and cities in the area extremely easy. Plus, the views from the train along much of the coastline are out of this world. Looking out to beaches, rocks and glimmering seas is a pretty perfect way to travel if you ask me!

Have you been to the south of France? Would you like to go?
