Scenes from Stockholm Archipelago

Buildings in Stockholm Archipelago

Stockholm Archipelago contains a staggering 30,000 islands and islets approximately and is one of the most picturesque places I explored within the Baltic Sea. The colourful buildings in the main islands of the city looked beautiful against the different shades of blue in the calm sea.

There are islands of all shapes and sizes within the archipelago. Some have one or two houses on them and some have entire little villages contained on them.

A very large amount of the houses that are on the islands far away from the centre of Stockholm are holiday homes owned by Stockholmers.

I definitely wouldn’t mind having a summer holiday home on one of these little islands. Preferably a private island with just my little house on it, but hey I’m not that fussy!

There are many different companies which offer hop-on hop-off cruises around the archipelago, which is a great way to get around. It’s also absolutely beautiful in the summer months, so what better way to explore!

House in Stockholm Archipelago

Would you be brave enough to live isolated on this tiny little island? I’d like to give it a try. Imagine having a boat to get around everywhere instead of a car? That would be pretty cool. I’m not sure how much fun it would be in the harsh winter months though!

Incredible! I had no idea there were over 30,000 islands and islets. The world truly is beautiful!

Some lovely holiday homes as you say !

I took the cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki this summer and was blown away by the Archipelago. I had no clue it was as big as it was, nor was I prepared for it’s beauty. It was definitely one of the highlights of my trip!

What a great cruise, Kate! Nice to know it wasn’t just me who was blown away by the archipelago! x

Love Stockholm, I truly believe that is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and mayby the most beautiful capital – OK, I am maybe a bit biased as I am Swedish but on the other hand I am from Gothenburg originally, and there is always competition between the two.
All the islands in Stockholm makes public transportation a bit challenging at times but as long as you stick to the underground it is fine.
I wouldn’t go and live on the tiny island though, can you imagine having to take the boat to go for a stroll…? I can’t.
BTW: If you didn’t see it, I recommend a visit to the Vasa museum next time you go!

I didn’t get a chance to use the underground while I was there. Maybe next time!
The Vasa Museum is amazing isn’t it! Even just looking at it from afar it looks so cool with the sails coming out of it. Very unique :)
