Visiting Silversea’s Silver Cloud

I’ve previously sailed upon one cruise with Silversea, on board Silver Shadow in Asia, and absolutely loved my cruising experience with them. Of course I was pretty excited when I received an invitation to dinner on board one of their other ships, Silver Cloud, which would be docked in Edinburgh for an overnight visit.
The weather was being exceedingly kind to us and the sun was shining as I arrived at the dock. I handed in my passport, which was rather surreal as I wasn’t actually leaving the dock, and proceeded up to the panorama lounge where I was greeted with champagne and the friendly welcomes that are absolutely normal on Silversea.

I met with a group of other media and journalists and we enjoyed champagne on the outside terrace looking over Leith Docks before it was time for a tour of the ship.

Silver Cloud is the oldest of Silversea’s fleet at 20 years old. She can carry 296 guests and 222 crew, giving an excellent ratio of guests to crew and ensuring attentive service for all passengers.

The ship has everything you would expect to find on a modern cruise ship – a spa and salon, a gym with views over the front of the ship, stylish bars, a small casino, a selection of shops, a swimming pool and a glittering show lounge.

There are four different restaurants on board Silver Cloud, including Le Champagne, the only Wine Restaurant by Relais & Châteaux at sea. This was where we were dining that evening and it was an incredible dining experience.

The food in Le Champagne was delicious from start to finish and the service was perfect. It was a true testament to the level of friendly service provided on Silversea when a waiter said he recognised me from my previous cruise on board Silver Shadow EIGHT MONTHS AGO. Wow!

The best part of dinner in my opinion is usually dessert and this one certainly did not disappoint…

It was such a work of art I didn’t really want to ruin it by eating it but it just looked too tasty to say no to!

I was a guest of Silversea for dinner however all thoughts and ramblings over the delicious deserts are entirely my own.
