I don’t know about you but I love, love, love planning a trip. For me, there are few things better than sitting down with a fresh notebook, my laptop and getting into planning mode.

I love planning out all those little details that other people probably hate. Like transfers from the airport to the accommodation. Or checking if we’re staying within walking distance of the beach/train station/tram stop etc. Researching how to get from point A to point B and what the best way to do it is.

It’s the anticipation of it all that I enjoy so much. The anticipation of what’s to come on the next trip. What things I’ll see, what I’ll do, what things I’ll love and what I won’t like so much.

I like to imagine the things that I’ll experience on my upcoming trip and the memories I’ll make there. To think about the calm moments looking at some stunning scenery, or sipping a delicious cocktail at sunset. Or about the moments of laughter between me and whoever I’m travelling with. Or a conversation with a friendly local along the way. These are the moments that matter and the moments that make me love travel so much.

I’m the chief planning organiser (self-titled!) when it comes to booking trips as a group with my friends or family. Everyone is quite happy to leave me in charge of researching flights, accommodation and things to do and see. And, for the most part, I’m more than happy to do it.

I’m happy to get lost in thoughts – both practical and impractical – of the next trip. And as a very organised person, I like to know what’s going to be happening during a trip. I’m a little bit of a control freak, so putting faith in someone else to book things for me isn’t my favourite thing to do!

Sometimes I find myself searching for flights or clicking on amazing deals that I’ve seen, even when I’m not looking to book anything. I just like to look and see what’s out there. Does that make me really weird?!

And with that, I’m off to do more planning research for my next trip to the south of France. Bring it on!
