The time has come – I’m finally off on my first ever ski trip! We booked the trip a while ago and it seems like it’s taken forever to get here.

Myself, Thomas, his sister Andrea and her partner Richard are heading to Bulgaria tomorrow for a week of skiing fun! We’re flying into Sofia and then taking a private transfer to Pamporovo ski resort. It’s one of the most southern ski resorts in Europe and is supposed to be perfect for beginner and intermediate levels.

Richard is a confident and great skier and he recommended the resort to us. Andrea has never skied before at all and both Thomas and I can ski, but there’s definitely a lot of room for improvement in our skills. We learned to ski last year on a whim and have spent a little bit of time at the local indoor ski slope (with real snow!) getting better and more confident.

We made the decision a few months ago to invest in our own ski boots. We heard some horror stories about people being in a tonne of pain from rented ski boots, so thought we’d splash the cash on our own boots. We both were professionally fitted and couldn’t be happier with our kit.

Having only ever skied on an indoor slope, I’m a little nervous about being out on real slopes. I’m super excited though and – at the moment – the excitement levels are higher than my nerves. Let’s hope it stays that way!

I’m really looking forward to taking in the snowy, mountainous scenery too. I’ve only ever experienced snowy landscapes at home in Scotland and on a trip to Iceland. I adore snowy scenery and can’t wait to take it all in.

I’m looking forward to actual real days out on the slopes (and the apres ski, of course!). I can’t wait to wander around in the snow, taking in the views and admiring the snowy scenes. This will be my first visit to Bulgaria (making it my 39th country!) and I can’t wait to take in as much as possible.
