Eeek! There are just 5 days left until Christmas! And only 11 days until the start of 2019!

I just love Christmas time. I love getting together with family and friends, eating, drinking, laughing and having a great time.

This year I’m taking just shy of two weeks off from running my blog and business. I can’t wait to have some proper time off (I haven’t taken any more than a day or two off since the beginning of September) and I plan to make the most of it.

It’s been an amazing year and one I definitely won’t forget, but I’m totally ready for some chill time.

I finish up work tomorrow at lunchtime and then I’m heading straight to Archerfield House for a champagne and dinner overnight in the mansion house. I’ve wanted to go inside the mansion house for years, so I’m super excited to be finally doing it!

After our quick overnight, Thomas and I are hosting a Christmas drinks party at our house. We’re expecting around 20 people and I’m just hoping we’ll have enough booze and food to keep everyone going!

Then, there’s a couple of days to relax before Christmas Day itself, which we’ll be spending at my brother’s house with a bunch of family. My brother is a fantastic cook and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he’s going to whip up for the day.

After that, we’ve got a few days to relax before we head away for a break over Hogmanay (that’s New Year to everyone who isn’t Scottish!). We’ll probably catch up with friends, go to an ice hockey match and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

Then, we’re heading for a 4-day break in the countryside of Scotland across New Year. We’re staying in a countryside estate with a massive historic house and two smaller cottages on the land. There’s a group of around 20 going to that, so we’re expecting a bit of a party!

So, while I won’t be working during the festive period, there will still be posts going out that I’ve scheduled in advance. I’ll also be posting on Twitter and Instagram as usual too.

Thanks, as always, for being a reader here on Emma’s Travel Tales. This website wouldn’t be what it is without you guys.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and a very Happy New Year when it comes!
