When you’re on holiday you definitely want to relax as much as possible and one of the best places to do this is in your cruise ship’s on board spa. Every cruise ship I’ve ever sailed on has had a spa on board where passengers can be pampered and get the most enjoyment out of their holiday possible.

Take the spa tour on embarkation day

On every cruise line I’ve ever sailed on the spa has had a tour, or multiple tours depending on the size of ship, throughout the embarkation day. This gives you a chance to look around the spa, see what areas they have, meet the staff, find out about the treatments they offer, what products are used during the treatments and often you’ll get a free glass of champagne or sparkling wine too. Winning!

Often during the spa tour the staff will also do a quick demonstration of one or more of their treatments so maybe you’ll even end up discovering something new. This is also the perfect time to ask any questions you might have about specific treatments or issues that you have and the staff will be happy to help.

There are usually some discounts on offer during embarkation day too and if you know you’re going to want a specific treatment on a certain day or at a certain time then you’d be best to book it this day or risk the spa becoming fully booked.

Book a treatment when the ship is due to be in port

You know how it is, when your ship arrives in port everyone rushes to get off and spend as much time in the new destination as possible. This means that the ship becomes very quiet and often the spa has discounts for passengers who want to get treatments done during this time. You might find you can save up to 40% than what you would have paid if the ship wasn’t in port. Who doesn’t love a good bargain?

Get the full spa experience

Make sure to take full advantage of all the amenities your spa has to offer. If there’s saunas or steam rooms then make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy them before or after your treatment. Little things like this can make all the difference to your relaxing spa time.

Pamper yourself

You’re on holiday to really enjoy yourself so why shouldn’t you go all out and treat yourself? Why not book in to get your hair and nails done before formal night (if your cruise line has one) and you’ll feel like a million dollars. It’s your holiday so don’t forget to spoil yourself!

Don’t be afraid to complain

If something is wrong with your treatment or your manicure has chipped only the next day or there’s anything you’re not happy about then don’t be afraid to complain. The spa staff are there to help and if there’s a problem they’ll always try to resolve it as best as they can.
