2017 is 1/12th done already! What the heck!
What happened in January?
January has been a really good month. I’ve done lots of travel planning. Three weekends away in Scotland, a trip to the south of France and a trip to Portugal have all been booked! Lots to look forward to this year.
January is usually a pretty boring month for people, but I’ve had a rather busy and fun-filled four weeks. Thomas and I have hosted two dinner parties at our new home, we’ve taken skiing lessons (a ski holiday could be on the horizon!), I got to cuddle some newborn puppies, and I enjoyed a wonderful spa day at a nearby five star hotel with a friend. All in all, a pretty great month.
I’ve also been busy business and blog planning for the year ahead, which has me full of enthusiasm and plans for what I want to do. Is there anything you’d like to see more or less of on Emma’s Travel Tales? Let me know in the comments below!
What I read in January…
The start of 2017 has meant the start of a brand new 52 books challenge – my personal challenge to read at least one book a week for the entire year.
I started the year off by reading Ghost in the Machine by Ed James. This is the first in the detective Scott Cullen series and is set in Edinburgh, Scotland. I always enjoy reading books that are set in Scotland as I love recognising places and imagining the events really happening!
Next up was Before I Let You In by Jenny Blackhurst and I finished this book in just two days. It was a total page-turner and had me wanting to read more and more to find out what was going to happen. If you enjoy psychological thrillers this is a must-read.
Then I read the second book in the Scott Cullen series by Ed James – Devil in the Detail. Another solid detective novel that I enjoyed.
Last, but not least, I ploughed my way through Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff. It tells the tale of a glamorous couple who are the envy of everyone around them, but all is not as it seems behind closed doors. A really great read.
New Posts for January…
What’s happening in February?
I don’t have anything huge planned for February so far. It’s my birthday in March and Thomas and I are planning a little getaway for that. We haven’t decided where too yet though, so no doubt some of our time this month will be spent deciding where to go. Fun!
Other than that I have a few catch ups with friends, dinner dates and other random bits and bobs planned. How about you?
