A few weeks ago I turned 27 and my lovely boyfriend Thomas took me away for my birthday. We always prefer to go away together somewhere, rather than buy presents we don’t really need. This year he took me to the gorgeous Cameron House Hotel at Loch Lomond.
Cameron House is a luxury five-star hotel that sits right on the banks of the loch. The views are incredible and it’s a really peaceful, tranquil setting.
The last time we were at Cameron House was for the wedding of two of our great friends so we had some really great memories of the hotel before we even arrived.
We lucked out with the weather and it was dry with cloudy sunshine for our visit. Perfect!
We headed straight to the spa when we arrived to take full advantage of the facilities. The spa is set over three levels and has a variety of different places to relax. My favourites were the indoor hydro pool, the sauna and, of course, the outdoor rooftop infinity pool. The infinity pool has views over the 18th green of The Carrick golf course and out to the loch. Gorgeous!
After a blissful few hours in the spa, we headed to the main part of the hotel to check in. We had a lovely double room with a garden view and although I didn’t love the Paisley-pattern wallpaper, I loved everything else.
Then we made our way to the bar for a glass of something fizzy (me) and a beer (Thomas) to toast to my birthday.
To take advantage of the good weather we then headed for a long walk around the banks of the loch. The views were to die for and it was so wonderfully peaceful.
That evening we had booked dinner in The Boathouse, the more casual restaurant at the hotel. It’s less than a five-minute walk from the hotel itself, right on the waters edge. I loved the nautical decor, the service was fantastic and the food was delicious. A really great birthday dinner!
We walked back to the hotel and headed to the cosy Great Scots Bar for a few nightcaps before bed.
The next morning we had a lazy lie-in and a delicious breakfast in the Cameron Grill before reluctantly checking out and heading home. Cameron House, you were great and we’ll definitely be back!
