There are few things in life better than checking into a luxury hotel. Staying in a fantastic hotel always makes me happy, as there are so many things to enjoy that you don’t have at home!
I always like to make the absolute most of my time when I’m staying somewhere fabulous, and these are the things I love the most…
1. The fancy breakfasts
Oh man. Luxury hotel breakfasts are my absolute favourite!
All the different foods – the pancakes, the waffles, the three different types of sausages and all the different yoghurts! It makes it impossible to choose what you want to eat, so if you’re like me you just take one of everything and try the lot.
At a lovely hotel, breakfast in bed can be even better! The epitome of laziness, but damn it always feels great.
2. The beds
Hotel beds are the absolute best. I love the kind where it’s actually so big you could lie horizontally and still have plenty of room.
I love how comfortable the mattresses always are and how white and pristine the sheets are. There’s something so luxurious about brilliant white sheets I think. The marshmallow-like duvets and high thread count sheets are other definite highlights.
3. All the facilities
Swimming pool(s), an indulgent spa, gorgeous bars, lovely restaurants and so much more. Luxury hotels always have everything you could need for a relaxing trip.
One of my favourite indulgent hotel things was at the Sofitel on The Palm in Dubai. While you were laying out at the pool there was a button to press for a waiter to come and take your food or drinks order. Ideal!
4. Amazing service
Most of the time (not always), service in ultra-luxury hotels is to die for. Staff are highly-trained to be able to offer the best service to you and nothing is too much trouble.
For example, I was in Marbella earlier this year for my birthday and on the day of my birthday they came up to the room with a birthday cake and candles. How incredible!
5. Little touches
With many experiences in life, and definitely when it comes to hotel experiences – it’s the little touches that make all the difference.
Being offered a complimentary welcome drink on arrival, having your bags taken to your room, finding ultra-fancy toiletries in your bathroom, being able to select your pillows from a pillow menu and other little things like that can completely change an experience.
