Berlin in Pictures

I fell pretty hard for the city of Berlin, it’s nightlife, and it’s utterly accepting atmosphere on my recent visit. I spent an amazing long weekend checking out the sights, street art, markets, nightlife, and soaking up the history of Berlin. So here’s a few pictures from my whirlwind weekend in the city…

Berlin sunset

The gorgeous sunset from our balcony

Thanks to the pretty awesome people at Oh Berlin, Nadine from thenadwork, and I had a really cool apartment in the trendy area of Kreuzberg. Kreuzberg is the newest up and coming area in the city, and has a tonne of cool restaurants, bars and clubs. This was the killer sunset view from our apartment balcony.

Berlin Kreuzberg Bars

This is the type of colourful place you stumble upon in Krezuberg…

One of the first things we did in the city was to take a walk around the area of Kreuzberg. We stumbled upon interesting street art, exciting architecture and so much more. One of the places that I was most intrigued by was the Bar above - Filmkunst Bar Fitzcarraldo. It’s bright, colourful, eye-catching and yet impossibly cool. Kind of like Berlin itself.

Alexanderplatz Berlin Germany

The TV Tower at Alexanderplatz

Taking the ultra efficient U-Bahn service from Kreuzberg to Alexanderplatz, this was the sight that greeted us after exiting the station. The famous TV tower dominates the skyline in this area, and there were hoards of people heading towards it, to enjoy the views from the top of the tower.

It was from Alexanderplatz that we joined our Mini Segway tour of the city, thanks to the awesome people at City Segway Tours. I’d been lucky enough to have been on a Segway tour before in Aix-les-Bains, France, so I was prepared for just how fun cruising round the city would be. Walking is pretty overrated anyway, right…!

Brandenburg Gate Berlin Germany

Dramatic skies over Brandenburg Gate

Our 2 hour Segway tour took us from Alexanderplatz, to Museum Island and all the way to Brandenberg gate. It was the first time I’d seen this site that’s eponymous with the city, and the dramatic skies above it made it much more impressive.

Me, Nadine and Sebastian taking a break from speeding around on our Segway’s!

After a great afternoon racing around Berlin on our Segway’s, we decided it was time I was properly initiated into German culture, and tried a currywurst. Sebastian took me to Curry 36, which is meant to be one of the best places to get this dish in Berlin, and seeing the massive queue outside I was definitely expecting good things.

Delicious currywurst?!

I have to admit, I wasn’t too impressed by this famous German dish. At least I can say I tried it though!

I visited Berlin as a guest of Oh Berlin. My Segway tour with City Segway Tours was also complimentary. However, all opinions and bad jokes are entirely my own.
