What’s been happening in August?

Wow. August has been a seriously busy month.

At the beginning of the month Thomas’ parents got the keys to their brand new house! We spent over a week painting, stripping wallpaper, moving furniture and making everything perfect before they moved in. We were happy working like mad to get them in and knew we’d all have the chance to relax together on our trip to the south of France. The four of us were travelling together to celebrate Thomas’ mum’s birthday and we couldn’t wait.

Unfortunately, Thomas’ dad then received some bad news about his health and was unable to travel. We were ready to cancel the trip completely but he graciously insisted Thomas and I go without them. So, the middle of the month saw us spending almost a week in the south of France, an area I adore. We had an amazing time and there’s lots of posts coming up on what we got up to!

The end of the month saw me catching up on work, Thomas jetted off to Portugal on a boys golf holiday and we enjoyed some dinners out with friends and family too.

What I’ve been reading in August

With how busy I’ve been this month, it’s unsurprising that I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like. I only read three books in August!

The first was The Sixth Window by Rachel Abbott, a thriller about the family left behind when a policeman is run over and killed. They thought they had found the original perpetrator, but it turns out to be someone completely different. There’s also a good subplot going on in this book that kept me intrigued.

Then I read When You Disappeared by John Marrs. A man walks out on his family and disappears without a trace, leaving his wife and children to think he’d died and his body hadn’t been found. Actually, he planned on disappearing, for reasons that aren’t revealed until near the end.

Lastly, I read a book that was given to me by my brother who read it on his recent holiday – The Late Show by Michael Connolly. I really enjoy Connolly’s books and this one was no exception. It begins with a nightclub shooting and a brutal murder, creating plenty of suspense that left me turning the pages to find out what happened next.

What’s happening in September?

September is set to be a bit of a quieter month. I don’t have any travels planned, so will be concentrating on getting lots of work done on projects for my clients.

We’re also hosting a dinner party and have booked Sunday lunch at the beautiful Malmaison hotel in Glasgow with friends. Two of our best friends are also moving into a house just around the corner at the end of the month, so I’m pretty sure we’ll be spending a bit of time helping them unpack and build furniture. Plus, there’ll be some adventures around Scotland as always.

And that’s it for another month! As always, thank you for taking the time to check into my blog and read about all my adventures and musings. If you’re not already then please follow along on Twitter and Facebook to stay even more up to date.
