I like to think I know Scotland pretty well, as I’ve lived here my entire life. No matter how far I travel, it will always be one of my favourite places in the world. I love the landscapes, the people and the variety of things to do and see.

Here is my choice of 50 things to do in Scotland…

  1. Visit Glasgow
  2. Drive the North Coast 500
  3. Go to Stirling Castle
  4. Explore Edinburgh
  5. Visit at least one of the islands
  6. Go hunting for the Loch Ness Monster
  7. Check out Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow
  8. Stay in a castle
  9. Go star gazing at Scotland’s Dark Sky Park in Dumfries
  10. Walk all or part of the West Highland Way
  11. Go skiing
  12. Visit Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park
  13. Experience Up Helly Aa in Lerwick, Shetland
  14. Spend some time in the gorgeous seaside town of St. Andrews
  15. Take a trip on The Waverley, the largest seagoing passenger paddle steamer in the world
  16. Admire the Wallace Monument
  17. Visit the Isle of Skye and see Kilt Rock
  18. Head to Sandwood Bay Beach, consistently voted as one of the best beaches in Scotland
  19. Visit Aberdeen – the so-called Granite City
  20. Play golf – Scotland is the home of golf and has some of the best courses in the world
