Having lived just outside of Glasgow my entire life, it’s safe to say I’ve tried some of the best restaurants the city has to offer. So, if you’re looking for the best places to eat in Glasgow, read on…

1. La Vita Spuntini

La Vita Spuntini dishes up talian tapas at great prices. It’s located on bustling Byres Road and is the perfect place to begin an evening in the west end of the city.

2. Guy’s Restaurant and Bar

Guy’s can be found right in the heart of the Merchant City. Here, you’ll find traditional Scottish dishes with some exciting modern twists. A great place for a cosy dinner.

3. Cafe Andaluz

There are two branches of Cafe Andaluz in the city and, personally, I think the West End one is better than the city centre one.

If you love Spanish tapas, you’ll love Cafe Andaluz. When you step inside you feel as though you’re transported to Spain and the flavours in the dishes will cement this feeling even further. It’s also incredibly well-priced so perfect for a budget meal out.

4. Bo’Vine

If you love a good steak then you’ll be sure to like Bo’Vine. It’s on the top of Byres Road and is part of the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel. The steaks are delicious, the wine choice is extensive (and prices are reasonable) and the choice of starters and desserts is great too. You’ll be spoiled for choice.

5. The Butchershop Bar and Grill

Another perfect place to head if you’re a fan of a great steak. I highly recommend the chateaubriand here. It’s stylish, cosy and ideal for date night or a meal with friends.

6. Bibi’s Cantina

This is one of my most favourite restaurants in Glasgow. Bibi’s is something of a hidden gem, located at the end of Dumbarton Road. It dishes up incredible, authentic Mexican food at fantastic prices. The service is always top notch and the food never fails to hit the spot. Be sure to book ahead though, this place gets seriously busy!

7. Coia’s Cafe

Admittedly, Coia’s Cafe isn’t located in the most salubrious part of the city, but the fact it’s been there and been thriving since 1928 surely demonstrates just how good it is. When you step inside the door, you forget all about where you are and concentrate only on the amazing food. It’s traditional Italian favourites that everyone is sure to love.

8. Chaophraya

For fans of Thai food, there’s only one place to go in Glasgow – Chaophraya. The food is incredible, the cocktails are delicious and the building is absolutely gorgeous. It’s housed within a building which dates back to 1909 and previously housed the Royal Academy of Music and Drama. You’ll love the food just as much as the setting.

9. One Devonshire Gardens at Hotel du Vin

One Devonshire is another of my absolute favourite Glasgow restaurants. It’s the perfect place for a special occasion and it’s the type of place you can get all dressed up to go to. The food is divine, the leafy setting in the west end is blissful and it’s just a great place for a fancy meal.

10. Amber Regent

If you crave great Chinese food in Glasgow then Amber Regent is the place to go. It’s located in the city centre and serves up really great, flavourful chinese food.

11. Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery

The Buttery has been something of a Glasgow institution for years. In fact, it’s actually the spot my parents chose for dinner to celebrate their engagement over 40 years ago! We went back recently to celebrate my dad’s birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the setting was old-school upmarket chic and we couldn’t have faulted a thing.

12. Ubiquitous Chip

Ubiquitous Chip has been part of the Glasgow restaurant scene since 1971 and shows no signs of its popularity dwindling. Located on charming Ashton Lane, it’s a stylish place to go and enjoy a delicious dinner with friends or family.

13. Wee Lochan

My best friend first took me to Wee Lochan several years ago to celebrate my birthday and I absolutely adored it. It’s cute, the staff are welcoming and it serves up Scottish fayre with a twist and there’s sure to be something to suit everyone.

14. Dakota Bar and Grill

Dakota is a fairly new additon to Glasgow’s extensive choice of restaurants. It’s part of the stylish Dakota hotel and has quickly become popular with the residents of Glasgow. It’s impeccably decorated and you’ll find perfectly grilled steaks, seafood offerings and some eclectic Scottish dishes.

15. The Spiritualist

If you’re looking for a more casual dining experience in Glasgow, but still want delcious food, The Spiritualist will fit the bill. It’s a trendy bar and restaurant that always has a great atmosphere and buzz about it. They specialise in locally sourced, fresh, delicious food and you certainly won’t be disappointed.
